After Jan. 29th, you may still Register (click button below) to access remaining sessions and other supports. 

Available for residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Was Quitting Smoking on your list of New Year’s resolutions?

Register today for the NL Smokers’ Helpline’s Online Group Program.  It will help boost your motivation to quit and will help you feel more prepared and confident to follow through and stay quit.

Here’s how it works:

The program is led by a trained smoking cessation program facilitator.  It is open to anyone who is thinking about quitting smoking in the near future or anyone who has recently quit.  There’s no pressure to quit smoking right away.  The program simply provides information, tips, tools and support to help people move forward when they are ready.

When you join:

4 interactive Sessions

There are 4 sessions which will provide valuable content on all key topics related to smoking.  You’ll get up-to-date information on smoking cessation products, resources, and strategies.  You may join live at the scheduled times where you’ll be able to interact with other participants by audio, video and/or ‘chat’.  Or if the scheduled times aren’t convenient for you, that’s no problem--you can watch a recording of the sessions anytime at your convenience.

Private Facebook group

For participants only.  This will be monitored by the group Facilitator and will be a place for sharing and connecting; and for inspiring, motivating and supporting each other.

group support

The support you receive from other group members really is the highlight of this program.  Participants will have the opportunity to take part in online discussions around the program topics.  You’ll learn a lot from the experiences of others who are on their own personal ‘quit journey’.

hand-outs

There will be handouts which summarize all of the main points covered in each of the sessions.  These are for your own personal review to help you stay on track between sessions.  Available for download or we’re happy to send them out to you by mail.

mini-sessions

Throughout the 4 weeks, there will be additional short videos (ex. 2 minutes or less!) posted within the Online Group which will provide extra information on additional topics to help you stay on track between the 1-hour weekly sessions.

It’s completely up to you how you’d like to connect with the other participants.  If you’re comfortable signing on with your web cam and/or microphone, that’s great! Otherwise you can simply type in your comments and questions within the private online program.

A reminder that this service is available only for residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.  If you are from outside of this province we encourage you to search for the quitline that serves your area.
