Newfoundland and Labrador Smokers’ Helpline – Canada Summer Jobs 2019
The Newfoundland and Labrador Lung Association’s Smokers’ Helpline is the quitline service provider for the province, funded by the provincial government to offer a variety of smoking cessation services free of charge. Information and support with quitting are available over-the-phone, online, through email and text messages, as well as through resources/materials.
The Smokers’ Helpline will be hiring a summer student to provide assistance with delivering and promoting Helpline services. Work tasks may include: providing quit-smoking information to clients, communicating with partner organizations, preparing packages of resources, assisting with research projects, and other duties to assist with Helpline initiatives as needed. The position will be full-time (35 hours per week) for a 6-week period from June 24th to Aug. 2nd, 2019.
This position would be very well suited for a student in a health-related field such as social work, psychology or nursing as the employee will have the opportunity to receives valuable experience in health promotion and counselling.
Eligibility criteria for this position:
International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
